Our Sligo golf trip has quickly become a highlight of the golfing calendar, and 2026 marked our third year combining world-class links golf in Ireland with the excitement of The Masters each evening.
For golfers seeking an unforgettable golf break in Sligo, this trip showcases everything that makes Ireland’s northwest coast so special.
Travel to Sligo – Planning Around the Unexpected
With fuel protests affecting travel across Ireland, an early 6:00 AM departure ensured we stayed ahead of delays.
A key part of the journey—and a Heritage Golf Getaways tradition—is breakfast at Esquire Coffee. It’s the ideal stop for golfers heading west for a Sligo golf weekend.
Strandhill Golf Club – A True Test of Links Golf
Our opening round at Strandhill Golf Club delivered exactly what you expect from links golf on Ireland’s west coast.
Strong winds and heavy rain created a demanding test, but the stunning Atlantic views and dramatic landscape made it a memorable start. Strandhill is a must-play for anyone planning a golf trip to Sligo.
Where to Stay in Sligo – The Perfect Golf Base
The Glasshouse Hotel continues to be our preferred base for golf breaks in Sligo. Its central location, quality dining, and comfort make it ideal for groups.
Just across the bridge, Connolly’s Pub offers a lively setting to enjoy the evening and keep up with Masters coverage.
County Sligo Golf Club – Championship Links at Rosses Point
Saturday brought us to County Sligo Golf Club, one of Ireland’s premier championship links courses.
Fresh from hosting the West of Ireland Championship, the course was in superb condition—testament to the work of General Manager David O’Donovan and his team.
For anyone considering a links golf holiday in Ireland, Rosses Point is essential.
Dining in Sligo – A Golf Trip Essential
No Sligo golf weekend is complete without great food. Dinner at Hooked once again delivered, with outstanding dishes and warm hospitality.
Experiences like this elevate a golf trip to Ireland beyond just the courses.
Enniscrone Golf Club – One of Ireland’s Best Links Courses
Our final round took place at Enniscrone Golf Club, widely regarded as one of the best links golf courses in Ireland.
Under the management of Keith O’Neill, Enniscrone offers towering dunes, spectacular views, and a challenging layout that defines golf on Ireland’s west coast.
With sunshine finally appearing, it was the perfect way to close out the golfing side of the trip.
Watching The Masters – The Perfect Finish
Returning to Sligo, we settled in to watch the final round of The Masters.
For the second consecutive year, Rory McIlroy claimed victory, bringing an unforgettable Sligo Masters golf trip to a fitting conclusion.
