History & Design Origins

PGA National Oaks Prague is the vision of celebrated American architect Kyle Phillips, whose résumé includes Kingsbarns (Scotland), Yas Links (UAE), and The Grove (England). Phillips first visited the Nebřenice site around 2006, captivated by its rolling countryside and potential for a championship layout. Over the following decade, the course was meticulously shaped to blend natural terrain with strategic design.

The front nine opened by invitation in autumn 2019, with the full 18 holes debuting in summer 2020. The clubhouse resides in the lovingly restored Nebřenice Chateau, a 19th-century hunting lodge once belonging to the Von Schüttelsberg family, now a refined hub for players and guests. Within months of its full launch, the course claimed Europe’s Best Golf Course and the Czech Republic’s Best Golf Course at the 2020 World Golf Awards.

In 2024, PGA National Oaks Prague entered a new chapter as host of the DP World Tour’s D+D Real Czech Masters, previously held at Albatross Golf Club. That year, David Ravetto won at 23-under-par on this very layout.

Signature Holes & Strategic Highlights

  • Hole 1 opens with options: take driver toward the left bunker for a daring angle, or lay up short for a safer approach to a subtly guarded green.
  • Hole 2, a personal favourite of Kyle Phillips, tempts players with a sloping fairway feeding into a well-protected green.
  • Hole 3 plays mind games with a long bunker that visually shortens the hole, rewarding precision and nerve.
  • Other standout holes include 11 and 16, with the latter regularly cited by visitors as the most memorable on the course.

Course Presentation & Conditioning

Phillips’ routing creates a flowing mix of tree-lined “rooms” and open, links-inspired stretches. Native forests, restored wetlands, and meandering waterways frame the play without overwhelming it. Bunkering is both strategic and aesthetic—deep, sculpted, and immaculately maintained.

The conditioning is “PGA Tour standard”: pristine fairways, slick greens, and perfectly raked sand. Sustainability is a core ethos, with minimalist maintained turf and an emphasis on blending with the natural environment.

Guest Experience

Managed under the Troon Privé umbrella, the service is meticulous yet warm:

  • Arrival: friendly staff from the car park to the starter’s hut.
  • On-course: a well-stocked halfway house with modern conveniences like QR-code payments.
  • Post-round: club cleaning, attentive locker room service, and a relaxed chateau lounge to unwind.

Green fees are considered excellent value given the quality of play and facilities. The pro shop offers a curated selection of premium gear, while the PGA-certified academy caters to those seeking to improve their game.

Hospitality & Atmosphere

The restored chateau clubhouse offers refined dining with views across the course. Menus emphasize fresh, locally sourced ingredients, complemented by Czech wines and international favourites. The balance of historic charm and modern comfort makes it as memorable a post-round venue as the course itself.
