New Destination – Ostrava-55 Holes!!!!!

I was recently invited to participate in a familiarisation trip to the Czech Republic with CzechTourism and over 80 tour operators from around the world.

The location of our visit was to the Czech city of Ostrava, an old Coal mining and steel production city that has been transformed in the last 30 years into a new cultural and tourist destination.

Dolní Vítkovice was the steel fabrication factory which closed down in 1994. Rather than demolishing the old site, The Ostrava Regional Government have built a new cultural venue with tours of the old mill, classical concerts and music festivals such as Colours of Ostrava and Beats for Love. Additionally, there is a viewing tower in the complex with a history tour and stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Čeladná Golf Resort is a 45-minute drive from Ostrava boasting a 36-hole layout that has hosted the Czech Open on the DP World Tour for 4 years. Nearby is Ostravice Golf Club which has recently merged with Celadna to make a 54-hole complex.

There are two Hotels on site: The Muira, a slick arty hotel designed by the famous Czech Artist David Černý, and the Mountain Guesthouse – a log-cabin-clad building situated opposite the first tee.

Guests have access to three 18-hole championship courses set in the picturesque Beskydy Mountains, two restaurants, two conference halls for social events and conferences, wellness facilities and two golf academies.

Access to this area is by direct flight to Katowice with a 1 hour 15-minute transfer to the resort.

This is an excellent off the beaten track location which provides excellent facilities, interested cultural sights and excellent value for money.
