My Favourite Rooftop Bar on Old Town Square: Terasa U Prince
Whenever I’m in Prague — whether on a golf-scouting trip, meeting partners, or simply wandering around the cobbled lanes between Old Town and the river — I always try to make time for a stop at Terasa U Prince. If you’ve ever looked up at the rooftops around Old Town Square and wondered where the best viewpoint is, this is it.
A Rooftop Right in the Heart of Prague
Terasa U Prince sits on top of Hotel U Prince, right on Old Town Square. You step out of the lift onto the fifth floor and suddenly you’re surrounded by that iconic Prague skyline: terracotta rooftops, church spires, the Astronomical Clock below you, and the steady hum of the square drifting up from below.
It’s one of those places where the view steals your attention before anything else does.
Food, Drinks & Atmosphere
What I like most about this rooftop is how versatile it is. Sometimes I’m in the mood for a proper sit-down meal; other times, all I want is a cold drink after a day on my feet exploring courses around the Czech countryside.
They do a great mix of cocktails — including their own signature creations — along with wines and a full food menu. The terrace is partly covered and heated, so it works even in the colder months. That’s a big plus for Prague, where “rooftop season” would otherwise be pretty short.
Why I Keep Going Back
There are a lot of places to grab a drink in Prague, but Terasa U Prince has something special:
The location is unbeatable. You’re literally overlooking one of Europe’s most beautiful squares.
The views are incredible any time of day — sunrise, sunset, or even after dark when the Old Town glows.
It’s relaxed, never too loud, and perfect for conversation or simply soaking up the scenery.
I’ve brought friends here, clients, and even just treated myself to a quiet solo drink. It works for all of it.
A Few Tips
If you want a prime table — especially for sunset — book ahead. It’s popular for good reason. Also, you don’t need to commit to a full meal; even popping up for a glass of wine is worth it for the view alone.
